  1. Nino says:

Long time no see Trent! …. I was wondering what happened to you, because you’ve stopped posting for a while!

As for the podcast… I haven’t listened it yet because I wanted to share this thought with you.

    • Hey Nino,

Yes, I know its been a while. I’ve been extremely busy with some other projects, and am now very near their completion. Look for more awesome podcast guests coming soon!

  2. Shuck says:

Hey Trent, thanks again for the interview, had a good time and I hope it helps your readers create an additional income stream.

  3. gary says:

I’m 64, and just starting out… Thank you Trent for all your help, I was lost with all the ideas/plans/schemes/scams..then i found your site… :) Gary

  4. Mike says:

This was a great podcast and a great idea. I don’t think I can take action on this one right now (plate is too full) but I’m definitely keeping this one in my back pocket. Thanks Trent.

  5. Laura says:

I like the ideas here. It’s almost like writing a report for school, and getting paid for it… right? I’ve been writing fiction, but I could just do some non fiction to pay the bills while I write the fic. I am inspired!

  6. Bryan says:

    Great podcast guys.

I see the price is $19.95, but you mentioned a code on the podcast, am I seeing the right price? Trent, I went through your link.

Exciting to see you successful after only 5-6 months.
    -bryan

    • Shuck says:

      Hey Bryan,

If you go through Trent’s link to get the book, the price will stay at $19.95 after the promotional price ends on May 11th. In the podcast it did seem like there was a promo code, but I just wanted to make sure that everyone who listens to the podcast could get it at the $19.95 price.

      Sorry about the confusion.

I published my first book in mid January and hit over $1,000 per month by April 18th…so less than 4 months to $1k/mo is pretty cool. I’m very confident that ANYONE can have the same or more success than I have.

Good Luck Bryan and thanks for the comment!

    • Hey Bryan,

That is the correct price. His regular price is going up to $37 in a few days.

  7. Wesley Banks says:

Great podcast Trent (and Shuck). I’m in a couple different communities with Shuck and he’s definitely the real deal.

I’ve read a few of his comments before on Kindle publishing, but this is the most detail I’ve seen and it was pretty neat to see actual examples of books he’s doing well with.

  8. Shuck says:

Hey Wesley, glad you liked it and thanks for the kind words!

  9. Laurie says:

    Hi Trent and Eric!!

Awesome wicked podcast. Eric, I think that Kindle $997 scammer was Ty Cohen. He was doing a ton of XXX rated books for the “Adult” market.

What is the promo code as mentioned in the podcast.

    Laurie

  10. Hey Trent & Eric,

Great podcast. I have tried Kindle ebooks and love it because it’s a little easier than niche sites. In my 1st month I made about $12 and it’s been doubling ever since.I’ve now hit the $50 per month mark. It’s not going to make me rich but all I did was write 5 x 20 page ebooks on stuff I peronally knew and uploaded them to Kindle. I let them sit there doing no promotion whatsoever. But after listening to the podcast and researching in Bestseller I think I could find much more profitable topics. Yes,I’ll probably outsource next time for $100-$150 is feasible compared to the profit it produces if you do it well.It definately works and sells like clockwork you just have to stay persistant like everything else. Well said in the podcast Eric. Ever since Google Penguin my adsense income has fluctuated too much, but I’m glad I forced myself to start another income stream months prior to Panda and Penguin.

    Nigel:)

    • Nigel,

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! You took action and you got a result. That fact alone separates you from the vast majority of people who will listen, but let fear prevent them from taking action. You have what it takes!

      • Shuck says:

Nigel, Awesome to hear you already started publishing via Kindle!

Depending on your niche of those books, I’m sure you could do some things that will increase sales of those books. With a couple of my books, a simple change to the title and/or cover helped to go from 20 sales a month to 40 to 50 sales per month.

If you want any advice on those books, just let me know!

  11. Will Brown says:

    Great podcast Trent and Shuck.

I bought Shuck’s eBook and I highly recommend it for anybody thinking about getting into Kindle books.

I’ve started outlining my first book (non-fiction) and plan on having it in the store by the end of the month (I’m writing it myself).

Since I am a writer, I plan on writing a fictional series of books after that.

I’m really looking forward to this. Thanks for the encouragement, Eric!

    Will

  12. Greg says:

Great podcast! I always tell myself to avoid that next ‘shiny object’, but I just couldn’t resist purchasing this ebook. I’m in.
This is definitely a compelling way of diversifying and creating another potential stream of revenue.

  13. joe says:

What nationality of publishers does Amazon allows in this Kindle publishing thing? There are restrictions, I believe, to other countries.

    Thanks for this podcast. Awesome!

  14. Mias Muller says:

    Hi Trent and Eric

Trent, long time since we last spoke, it’s silly season over here with trying to work through “the wettest drought in history” Good thing I downloaded this pod cast and was listening to it today whilst finishing a deck, it was such a BOOST!!
Man my traffic is WAY down on my niche sites and this is just the tonic I need.

Eric I have just bought your e-book and can’t wait till the weekend to crack it open… I don’t suppose you would care to tell us who your writer is – would you??

Best wishes to both of you and will talk again real soon!!!!

  15. Harlan Yee says:

Trent, just got around to listening to this podcast. Glad to finally have some new content from you! It’s been awhile! As usual, this podcast delivered exactly what I needed… a new project to work on. So I bought Eric’s course.

    Some questions:

    1. How much of a cut does Amazon take from the sale of a book?
    2. When I gift a book, does that mean I pay for it when I give it away?
    3. Does Amazon allow people to sell audio books/videos? Just thinking of ways to utilize content that is already being created into different channels. Such as turning the Kindle book into an audio book or video.

I hardly ever buy courses but this looks like a great method to make some extra passive income. Looks like I’ll be authoring some books this summer!

    • Shuck says:

      Thanks Harlan!

      1. You get 35% if priced between $.99 and $200, and you get 70% if priced between $2.99 and $9.99.

      2. Yes, you pay for it when you gift a book – which is why I usually price the book at $.99 initially when I am gifting the book to friends, family, etc…and to get some impulse buys to get the ball rolling.

      3. They do allow you to sell audio books (not sure how to go about doing that, but I know I’ve seen audio books for sale). As far as video goes, I do want to get into that also, I just haven’t had the time to research that – but giving away a video course with the books would be AWESOME, right?

Good luck publishing! I’m sure you will find out that kindle is super passive (even my friend, who has zero experience with IM, websites, etc is making $300/mo…with 1 book! LOL)

      • Harlan Yee says:

Eric, thanks for answering my questions! I’m just finishing a video course for one of my sites and I’m going to convert that to my first Kindle book. This should be a nice sized book when I’m all done with it. My thought is that publishing Kindle books is a great way to repurpose content I already have into another income stream.

    • Hey Harlan,

Yes, I’ve not been producing much in the way of new blog content as of late…but that is because I’ve been super busy rolling out Infusionsoft and some other backend business software. The goal being to automate more of my business so that I can get back to producing more killer podcasts like this one. Thanks so much for being such a loyal reader :)

  16. This is great information considering that I have a wealth of knowledge of a particular topic. Thanks for the share!
    Rafael

  17. Lain says:

Clicked on link and price is $29.95. Thought it was staying at $19.95 for your listeners?

  18. Thanks for that discount. I’m going to pick up a copy of it now. You can’t beat $20 :-)

  19. Lindsay says:

Hey Trent, have you tried out this method yet? If so any success? Loved the podcast and will be buying the ebook and giving this a shot.

    • Hi Lindsay, I’ve not tried it. I believe its an excellent strategy, however, I tend to follow more advanced strategies now that I’ve been online a while and can make them work. If I was starting over again, and didn’t know what I know now, I would definitely be giving Eric’s strategy a go.

  20. Kash says:

I am very much interested in digital publishing in general. However, I am bit cautious about selecting only Kindle as my publishing platform because, you know, its not safe to put all your eggs in a single basket.

Nonetheless, another amazing podcast by Trent. So very informative and motivating, as usual.

I would like to share this case study of Jesse Storimer, a software developer working with Shopify, who is making a 5-figure income selling an ebook. http://www.arastoo.com/how-to-make-5-figure-income-selling-ebooks.html

    • Hey Kash,

Terrific case study. Thanks for sharing it :)

      Trent

    • Kash,

I understand the “all your eggs in one basket” thing – but you have to start somewhere. Selling only on Amazon isn’t risky if you are putting out quality books that people are interested in. Amazon is the largest book seller in the WORLD and more Kindle Books are sold than physical books.

What I would suggest is taking Trent’s advice about creating income-generating websites, and then also doing Kindle books. That way, you INCOME is somewhat diverse.

Once you website/blog has traction (ideally more than 1,000 subscribers) you can then start publishing “niche” ebooks on amazon and using your subscriber base to start those sales rolling…then in those niche ebooks you can direct them to your website where you sell vidoes, ebooks, memberships or whatever…at a higher price.

Basically, there are a lot of ways to diversify your income and kindle is a great way to get started and get some cash flow.

  21. Freddy Furber says:

The link for the ebook/course is down..Anyone know where I can still get it? Thanks in advance, Freddy
