Unless you have ostrich’d your head in the sand for the past decade I’m guessing you have heard of YouTube…so have billions of others.
As I stated in My 2012 Goals, my goal is to hit 10,000 Youtube subscribers this year. This series on YouTube Traffic Tricks will show my step by step strategies on how I get there and how you can too.
If you are interested in how to take your company, business, or niche site to the next level, this series of articles will help you get started using YouTube.
YouTube gets over 3 billions video views a day. Yes friends, you read that correctly.
Many of you have blog subscribers and email lists already, but you want significantly boost your number of subscribers. We all want to get our paws on some of those 3 billion viewers to increase blog or site traffic, email lists, etc, and I wanted to learn the ins and outs of what YouTube has to offer and how to use it proficiently.
In this day and age growth is rapid, evolution is instant, and today’s news is almost immediately yesterday’s news. You have to bark big if you want to stay on the porch. YouTube is an excellent way to increase the volume of your “voice” and get more flow to you and your website…if you know how.
There are simple tricks and key steps to using YouTube but knowing them, is half the battle.
Creating a YouTube account and channel is easy and will get you well on your way to getting started. YouTube is a free site (unless you later decide to pay and become a partner….more details about this to come), so begin by going to their page and Create an Account.
After inputting your name, your Username is a key element to creating your account.
The username is what all viewers will see when searching, viewing your videos, or subscribing to your channel. It should portray what niche you are targeting and give the viewer an idea of what your channel represents.
If your niche is dog training for instance, “DogTrainer4Life” would be a lot more beneficial than “SuperDude2012″. If you already have a user account you can easily edit these or update your name to suit your projected audience.
Assign the email address to the email inbox you wish to receive updates, comments, and subscriber notifications.
As we all know, SEO plays a huge role in traffic generation. As an internet marketer, it is engrained that what you type should be geared to SEO and increasing search word hits, hence the term optimization.
This goes for YouTube as well. You should think SEO in conjunction with what would appeal to human beings when creating your YouTube Channel name.
If you create “SuperDude2012″ as your Account name your URL would be http://www.youtube.com/user/SuperDude2012 when ideally the goal is an SEO increaser like http://www.youtube.com/user/DogTrainingForLife
I recommend that you do a Keyword Tool-Google AdWords search in order to gauge the interest in your niche. On the Google Adwords mainpage (a free google keyword tool) you can type in the word or phrase you wish to gauge and get a reading how often it is being searched.
As shown above, type in the word or phrase you wish to search and click search. This gives you the statistics on how many monthly hits that keyword or phrase receives both globally and locally.
It also states the advertiser competition, which is helpful if you want to know if there is money in this particular niche. If there is high advertiser competition, there is money to be made.
This is not a full proof approach but definitely is a starter suggestion to a helpful Channel name and a gauge of how searched your niche is.
Now that you have a Channel established we can dive into making it as efficient as possible. This series of articles will give you helpful tips and how-to strategies for increasing YouTube views which will ultimately increase your blog, email list, and site traffic….so stay tuned!!

Many more Youtube Traffic Tricks to come yet…
I’m sure you’ll cover this in your series, but you can build backlinks to your profile page and if you get your main keywords in your username like you said, a Youtube profile page is easier to rank than a page on your own site.
Looking forward to the series.
I’m looking forward to it as well!
